About Taleeb Noormohamed
Taleeb Noormohamed was elected as the Member of Parliament for Vancouver Granville in 2021 and is the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Canadian Heritage. He currently serves on the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage and is a member of several parliamentary associations and groups. A devoted public servant, Taleeb started his career working for various federal government departments, including as Special Advisor to the Honourable Bob Rae and as Director of the Secretariat responsible for the review of the bombing of Air India Flight 182, in 2005. He later joined the Organizing Committee for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, serving as Vice-President of Strategy and Partnerships. Taleeb is a successful technology entrepreneur who has held senior executive roles with a number of global technology companies, he helped launch and build innovative businesses, and advises up-and-coming startups. Taleeb understands the value of hard work, creating jobs, building opportunity for every generation, fiscal responsibility, and the urgency of the climate crisis. With deep roots in Vancouver, Taleeb has a proven track record of community service and leadership. From establishing a mentorship program for at-risk youth at Covenant House Vancouver to serving on its board and on the board of Lions Gate Hospital to serving on Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) Board, he has been a dedicated advocate for those most in need. His commitment to volunteerism and community development was recognized with the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers, the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and The King’s Coronation Medal. Taleeb was voted “Best of Vancouver 2023” by readers of The Georgia Straight and voted “Favourite Up and Comer” by readers of Ottawa’s The Hill Times. Born in Ottawa, Taleeb grew up in Vancouver - where he still lives with his young family. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University and a Master of Education from Harvard University. He attended Oxford University for his doctoral studies as a Commonwealth Scholar.
